How to Avoid Common Sign Mistakes #2

Related image“There are two surefire methods to fail financially…The first is to spend when one should be saving and the second is to save when one should be investing” (1).

Business owners, property managers, CFO’s, and other money-conscious careers are often looking for ways to effectively cut costs in order to increase profits and save money. There are several areas of a business where this can be effective and should be pursued whenever it makes sense in the long run. However, trouble comes when businesses begin to prioritize saving money above all else and actually end up losing money down the road.

Take, for example, a decision the electronic services company, Circuit City. Back in 2007, in an attempt to cut costs, the company terminated over 3,000 of its best salesman. They then replaced these experienced salesmen with newer employees whom they could pay less money. Yes, in the short term, they saved a lot of money. However, their sales dropped significantly and by November 10, 2008, they filed for bankruptcy (2).

The cutting cost strategy is not only used with salaries and employees, but also with the products and items companies spend money on. As a sign company, we have seen time and time again when a business was much more concerned with getting the least expensive sign possible than with investing in a quality sign that would reflect well upon the business and draw in new customers. Because, “the fact is that cheap items of inferior quality might have to be replaced more often, a fact that could negate any savings potential. You might even find yourself paying more to buy a new product than if you’d purchased the more expensive, high-quality one the first time around” (3).

Last week we looked at a common sign mistake that is often made when a company does not purchase a Monument Sign, effectively cutting down on their company’s visibility. Today, we will look at another common sign mistake that occurs when a company attempts to save money at the expense of investing in a quality sign.

Sign Mistake #2: Not Investing in a Quality Sign

Business Signs Landmark Signs
3D Sign by Landmark Signs

In our experience, often people fall into this sign mistake trap because they do not realize how powerful and effective a quality sign can be for a company. They understand the importance of having a sign in order to be easily identified and found, but struggle to believe that investing in a top sign by a top sign company will not only save them problems down the road, but will also greatly benefit them today.

But the reality is that “Poor signage can deter consumers from entering a store, with over half (52%) saying they are less willing to enter a store with . . . poorly-made signs” (4). This statistic takes the theory that quality signage is vital for a business and turns it into fact. If a business, in the interest of cutting costs, purchases a low-costing sign, the finished product with reflect that and over half of their potential customers will see this is as a direct reflection of what type of company you are.

This is true even if the sign “looks” well-designed. Because while it may initially be visually appealing, the low-quality of the materials the sign is made out of, will get you a sign with good looks that fade quickly and will need a refurbishment sooner than you would think. And let’s be honest, consumers can tell the difference between a sign made of top materials and one made of inexpensive ones. Low-quality signage is much like buying an extremely inexpensive car that will save you money in the moment, but cost you a lot down the road when it inevitably has problems.

Conclusion

Well-made signs with an elegant design and the highest quality of materials will give you a sign that is visually appealing and lasts your company for years without you having to spend another dime. Whether you are purchasing a Monument Sign, Wall Signs, Pole Signs or any other Landmark Sign, investing in a quality sign now will save you money in the long run and bring new business right to your door.

Avoid making this common sign mistake by calling or emailing Landmark Signs today and getting your own quality sign today.

Your Business Name in Lights: Sign Lighting Option #2

halo-1455269_1920“Like rainbows, halos around the sun – or moon – are personal” [1]. Have you ever looked up in the sky and noticed a colorful ring surrounding the sun or moon? These halos are rings surrounding the sun or moon that are caused by light reflecting off of the tiny ice crystals found in storm clouds. Because of each person’s positioning, the ice crystals reflect at a different angle and look different based on where someone is standing.  That means that each individual receives their own unique personal message of this exquisite phenomenon.

Illuminated signs send their own personal messages to the viewer. The reason for this particular phenomenon has a lot less to do with the science of ice crystals and orientation and much more to do with the science of first impressions [2]. While the psychology of first impressions is fascinating, for a business owner looking to increase the marketing and branding of their company, what matters most is the results.

According to a study done on signage and its effects, it turns out that “Poor signage can deter customers from entering a store, with over half (52 percent) saying they are less willing to enter a store with misspelled or poorly-made signs” [3]. This particular statistic tells us that if a sign is not making the right impression, a business stands to lose over half of its potential customers.  Furthermore, the study found that 75% of consumers “have told someone about a store based simply on its signage.” This also shows us that if you sign is failing to get noticed or impressing upon viewers that you are a company who does not have what it takes to meet its customers needs, then you are missing out on a significant portion of an extremely powerful marketing tool: word of mouth marketing (learn more about utilizing signage as a marketing tool here).

In the previous blogs, we have learned just how important illuminating your sign is to the impression your business makes and your sign’s effectiveness. Additionally, last week we discussed one of the more common forms of sign illumination options: lit-through sign lighting. Today, we will dive into another powerful sign lighting option that sends its own unique crystal message.

Sign Lighting Option #2: Halo Lighting Signage

Landmark-Signs-Channel-Letter-Sign

The Basics

Halo sign lighting creates a visual similar to the halo found around the sun and moon. The light inside the sign is projected against its background in order to create a heavenly glow surrounding the sign letters where your business name is proudly displayed. The color of light commonly used for halo lighting is white, but it is available in many other colors.

It can be used on many signs including Monument Signs, Channel Letter Signs, Pylon Signs, Awning Signs, and more.

The Impactmaria-1592567_1920

So what exactly is the benefit of using halo sign lighting to illuminate your sign? Halos have also been used at many points in the history of art to edify the person whom the halo of light surrounds.  Just like the halos found in famous Renaissance paintings surrounding Christ, Mary, Peter and other deified saints, a sign illuminated by halo sign lighting, elevates the level of the company name it surrounds.

This is an ideal option for companies who are looking to utilize the powerful tool of sign lighting, but are still desiring to maintain the sophisticated and elegant image their company projects. It is a subtle, graceful way for your sign to stand out with a beautiful glow that does not overpower its viewer, but still gets a sign noticed by passers-by.

For your own sign illuminated by the tasteful halo sign lighting option, shoot us an email or give us a call and we’d be happy to give your more information so you can make sure that your business name is seen in lights.

Why Should I Illuminate My Business Sign? Part Three

women-1209678_1920Owner. CEO. Marketer. Salesman. Accountant. Manager. HR Director. Which one of these do you claim as your business title? If you answered, “Owner” then we know that you are the only one on the list who could also have answered, “CEO,” “Marketer”, “Salesman” and every other title identified, plus a few more. This is because as an owner of a business, you have to fill in, step in, or take over all of these positions at some point in your business, most likely at some point of your every single day.

As a result of business owners having to do it all, most are severely lacking in time. According to a survey done by Guidant Financial, “time management [was ranked] as the third biggest challenge (at 24 percent) of being a small business owner. From constant interruptions, such as emails, phone calls and instant messages, to busy meeting schedules and last-minute deadlines, distractions abound.” Getting back some of your precious time is a valuable asset and there are several ways that investing in a sign, whether it be a Monument Sign, Pole Sign, 3D Sign, or a Channel Letter Sign, will help you do just that (read more here).

But in order to really get the most out of your signage it is also important that your business’s name can be seen in lights. Illuminated signage can do more than just get you extra time because it can also maximize the time that you do have. Let’s take a look at another reason why you should illuminate your business sign.

Why You Should Illuminate Your Business Sign #3: Advertise While You Are Away

Verizon Standard Channel Letters

Normally, when the owner leaves for the day the work leaves with him or her. When the dark-2595779_1920lights are turned off, the door locked, and the owner’s car pulls away the business stops. Even when the top employees are at work while the owner is not, the work done will most likely not be the same quality or done with the same effort. This is not fault of the employees because despite their best efforts, the work does not mean as much to them since it is not their business (learn how signage can help with the small business problem of finding reliable employees here). Their livelihood is not on the line, but yours sure is.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know that there is some aspect of your business that is still performing at the same level while you are away.  Illuminated signage can do just that for you! When you leave for the day, turn off all the lights except for one: your lighted sign. Let it be your marketer for the evening while you get some much needed rest and relaxation.

An illuminated sign draws the attention of passers-by at night (especially in winter hours), helps you stand out from the competition, and advertises while you are away. The impact of this cannot be overstated because it turns out that “three out of four consumers saying they have told someone about a store based simply on its signage” (learn more here).  Not to mention the fact that “word-of-mouth is the primary factor behind 20 to 50 percent of all purchasing decisions” (Source).

An illuminated sign is the chance to substantially increase your word of mouth marketing, maximize your time, and advertise even while you are out of the office. You already do it all during business hours. Let your illuminated sign take some of the responsibility while you are away.

How To Use Signage to Solve 3 Small Business Problems: An Overview

For the past several blogs, we have taken the big picture problems that all small businesses face, and zoomed in on how signage can solve those problems. Although there are many challenges business owners face, we chose to focus on the top three that can really bog a business down if it does not come up for a solution for dealing with them.  We encourage you to go back and take a look at those blogs for a comprehensive coverage of the challenges. However, today, we will briefly go over all the elements to give you a panoramic view of the following small business issues and how signage can be used to alleviate them: not enough time, finding reliable employees, and getting the word out about your business.

How Signage Can Solve Small Business

Problem #1: Not Enough Time

Solution #1 – Stop Chasing Down Potential Customers

Couture-Salon (1)

Did you know that 2 out of every 3 consumers see a direct link between your company and its sign? That means if they like what they see, it will imply positive connotation and therefore, positive beliefs about your business.  That also shows that the opposite is true – a poorly-made sign in the mind of a consumer indicates a poorly-run company.

With Landmark Signs’ help, you can have a sign the sends a positive message to your customers. One that doesn’t yell at them from the TV screen, send them an obnoxious text during dinner time, or distract with annoying ads while they are reading an article online. Signage saves you time because it lets the customer come to you.

Solution #2 – Market Your Business Without Lifting a Finger

If you are working a 40-hour work week (although as a small business owner, it is most likely at least 10 hours more than that) you are spending about half your time marketing your business.

Imagine getting back half of your work hours? That is 20 hours or more that signage can free up because signs, like 3D Signs, tell consumers what your business is all about like we learned in the last point. Market your business with a great sign without you having to do any of the leg-work.

Conclusion: How To Use Signage to Solve the Small Business Problem # 3: Getting the Word Out About Your Business

“Never forget that you only have one opportunity to make a first impression – with investors, with customers, with PR, and with marketing.”Natalie Massenet, Fashion Entrepreneur and Founder of Net-a-Porter

Over the last several weeks, our series of blogs have focused on the reasons that signage is a highly effective marketing strategy to solve the small business problem of getting the word out. First of all, signage is the type of advertising that has no risk of annoying your potential clients with pesky pop-up ads and unsolicited phone calls since it allows your customers to come to you. Secondly, studies have shown that 75% of customers have told others about a company based on its signage alone, making it a reliable referral tool. Finally, signage gets your company great visibility as it is seen by local customers everyday to the tune of 60 times a month. Not bad for just one marketing strategy.

While there are many other reasons that prove signage is a great marketing solution for getting the word out about your business, today we want to focus on a theme that kept coming up as we discussed this marketing strategy. That is, the impression theses signs make. You see, all of the above results that come from using signage as productive advertising depends upon your sign making a good impression. If it doesn’t, then these results will not come. It is kind of like buying a treadmill and never using it. It’s not the treadmill’s fault that you aren’t losing weight.

So it goes with signage. It is not enough to just have a sign. It’s about having the best sign option for your company. One that is well-made and long-lasting. Plus, it needs to send the right message about who you are and what your company does. Let’s break down five different types of signage and the impression that they make upon others about your company. Don’t forget, Landmark Signs can help you with all of these requirements so that your sign will make the best first impression.

#1: Monument Signs

Monument Signs are a great option for making sure that your business is visible from the street. This is especially important if your company is set back away from the street or is in an office complex.

This type of signage reflects what it is named after – a monument. It is solid and substantial, made with long-lasting materials like wood, acrylic, gold leaf and more. Monument Signs give off the impression of a company that is stable, permanent, and strong. When we see a Monument Sign, we think of a business that is reliable and here to stay.

#2: Gold Leaf Signs

Like the Gold Leaf accentuating the delicate exterior of Versailles, Gold Leaf Signs are made from real 23 ½ carat gold. We can even make one of 9 carat gold for a silver look. Gold Leaf Signs can be used on any number of sign options including a Monument Sign, Window Graphic, Lobby Sign, and more.

Because this type of sign literally turns your sign into a piece of art, it send the message of beauty and elegance. It tells those who gaze upon your exquisite sign that your company is worth its weight in gold!

#3: Channel Letter Wall Signs

Channel Letter Wall Signs are typically displayed right over your store. Whether illuminated or non illuminated, this type of sign literally draws customers right to your door. They can be externally illuminated, internally illuminated, illuminated with a halo glow, or a combination of halo and externally or internally illuminated.

These eye-catching signs boldly and creatively display your company. They make a powerful impression upon those who can’t help but notice your sign. Your business will look exciting and interesting with any of the Channel Letter Wall Sign options.

#4: 3D Signs

3D Signs can be placed on walls outside above your doors or inside your office. They can be made of acrylic, metal, stainless steel, finished with gold leaf and more.

The dimension and perspective they provide make an impact on viewers. The impression they make is understated, and these signs are a great option for letting customers know that your business has class and is full of innovation.

#5: Lobby Signs

First Title Silver

Clients will notice your Lobby Sign right away when they walk into your office. It is a great sign to let customers know they are in the right place.

Lobby Signs show others that your company is proud of who you are and what services you offer. Not only do they show company pride, but they are also welcoming and let customers know that you are a dependable business.

Conclusion

No matter what sign type you choose, it is vital that it sends the right message about your small business. Making the best impression with the best materials and design is a significant factor in whether or not your sign will be a marketing solution for you.

How To Use Signage to Solve the Small Business Problem #2: Finding Reliable Employees

As business owners, we have all struggled on occasion to find employees that we felt like cowboy-hats-3265970_1920we could truly depend on to be a part of our small business.  There are a number of reasons for this. First of all, because we are small businesses, employees are often required to juggle multiple tasks and wear several different hats.  Sometimes our marketing team of one or two, also needs to be writers of blogs, salesmen of products, and customer service reps. This is often a part of the job that employees are not prepared for and can be an overwhelming aspect of working for a small business.

Another reason small businesses have to be picky when hiring is because they, as stated by  Holly Wade who is the director of research and policy analysis at the National Federation of Independent Business, “have less ability to absorb unexpected financial blows, making them more cautious when it comes to hiring anyone who doesn’t match the job description completely” (benefitspro.com).  This means that in the face of an employee wanting to sue a business for any number of subjective matters, a small business may not have the resources available to fight back, leaving them vulnerable to legal pursuits that could lead to them having to close their doors in order to save their name.

Still, others argue that colleges are not properly preparing their students for the library-1400313_1920.jpgworkforce.  “ ‘There’s definitely a gap between what we’re training people to do and where the jobs are,’ said John Arensmeyer, founder of Small Business Majority, an advocacy group based in Washington DC” (Source).  While we can all agree it is important to show new employees grace when adjusting to the demands of the business world, it can prove to be very frustrating when it, except in rare cases, seems like even the most basic skills are overlooked.

Regardless of the reasoning, small businesses are suffering in their struggle to find employees they can depend on to stay loyal, work hard, and be trainable.  In fact, a recent report found that “More than 80% of small businesses that were hiring said they had few or no qualified applicants for their open positions.”  Eight out of every ten small businesses are looking for solutions to the employee problem. While we here at Landmark Signs cannot find those employees for you, (Although if we could…nah who are we kidding? We would hire them for ourselves) we can provide impressive signage that can help lighten this load.

#1: Signage is a Great Representation for Your Company

Zadig-Voltaire 3D Sign by Landmark Signs
Commercial 3D Sign Designed, Manufactured, and Installed by Landmark Signs.

We’ve all been there before: one of our employees steps up to help a new customer while you are dealing with an IT issue on the phone.  Phew! You think, grateful that Daniel took the initiative to support you while you are occupied. As you return your focus back to your phone call, you stop and your throat drops into your stomach in horror.  Did Daniel just say what I think he said? Perhaps it was a well-meaning, but rather blunt piece of advice that did not go over well. Maybe it was that silly joke he thought the customer would enjoy but REALLY did not.  Or he might have misquoted a service at a lower rate than what you actually charge and you are stuck with either having to be the bad guy and charge the actual price or honor the quote and lose money.

It is a situation that every small business owner has found themselves in.  And in a people business, which is every business whether you are a service or product based business, it is an unavoidable situation.  However, with the right sign, you can trust a sign to shout proudly (an illuminated sign) or quietly suggest (a Gold Leaf Sign) that you are a top company.  The impression a sign makes will never be something that you cannot control, because with the help of an award-winning sign design team, you decide what your sign is going to look like.  A quality sign sends a message loud and clear about who your company is and what service or product it provides. Make sure you choose a sign that will tell the narrative you want it to tell.  Check out this blog to learn more about how a sign can make the best first impression.

#2: Let Signage Do the Work for You

Did you know that if you are a brick and mortar business most of the customers you get will come from within 5 miles of your store?  This means that “the average person will see your sign about twice per day or about 60 times a month” (Read More). Those are a lot of opportunities to get exposure for your company without you having to say a word or lift a finger.  Once you invest in a top sign, you can count on that sign to keep working for you, even when everyone else has gone home.

Furthermore, studies have shown that “3 out of 4 consumers…have told someone about a store based simply on its signage” (Learn more). So not only does a sign serve as a salesman by proudly displaying your company to customers that pass it on a daily basis, it will also work as a marketer for you helping you build a loyal customer base through the most powerful type of marketing in existence today: word of mouth marketing.

So go ahead, take an extra long lunch break. As long as you have an impressive sign, there will always be someone working at your business (don’t forget to get an illuminated sign to keep the work going well into the night!).

How To Use Signage to Solve the Small Business Problem #1: Not Enough Time

“Thirty-three percent of small-business owners reported working more than 50 hours per week, while an additional 25% said they work more than 60 hours a week, according to a poll of readers of the New York Enterprise Report” (Source).

fashion-1853294_1920.jpgOne of the reasons people go into business for themselves is because they long to experience freedom.  Freedom to make their own choices, freedom to be their own boss, and freedom to use their time the way they want.  However, what begins as one of the motivations for entrepreneurs starting their own business, getting back more time, often ends up being the most difficult thing to come by once that business is underway.  And even though the numbers mentioned above are not unusual for small business owners, it reflects one of the most difficult challenges of owning your own business.

As business owners ourselves who serve other business owners, we understand this struggle on a personal level.  However, we want to let you in on a little secret. A well-made sign can actually give you back one of the most precious commodities on the planet: time. You may be thinking, how can an inanimate object hanging above the door, in the lobby, or on the street, give me back something like time?  Well, the first step in allowing signage to free up your time is to stop thinking of signage as an object. Instead, think of it as a key to success that is alive with potential and profit, and is an employee that will work for all day every day, without asking for a raise.

How Can Signage Give You Back Your Time?

That is what you really want to know right?  Well if you invest in your signage, you will most certainly see that investment returned to you exponentially.  If you are still not sure why any type of signage at all is even necessary for your business, much less a well-made sign, check out our blog here to learn just how valuable signage can be for your company.

One of the things you will see is that over two-thirds of consumers see a direct correlation between your sign and your products and services (see more).  What this tells us is that if you have a poorly-made sign, than you risk losing 2 out of every 3 potential customers due to the fact that they will think that what you provide is of poor quality just like your sign.  If you step outside and see an unappealing Wall Sign, Monument Sign, or Pylon Sign, you are most likely losing 68% of your potential customers.

Time Saver #1: Stop Chasing Down Potential Customers

This statistic shows us that businesses may be wasting a lot of time chasing down potential sales all because their sign does not live up to the quality of their company.  Investing in not just any sign, but a well-made, quality sign will allow you to spend less time cold-calling and more time focusing on the product or service that only you can provide.  Because while a poorly made sign can deter customers, an elegant sign can draw in 2 out of every 3 customers saving you loads of time that you can devote to doing what really matters, making your business a success.

Time Saver # 2: Market Your Business Without Lifting a Finger

According to the website smallbiztrends.com, “a small business owner — along with another employee — will spend an average of 20 hours per week on marketing, the-eleventh-hour-3410476_1920according to the survey.”  Assuming that you are working a 40-hour work week, although most likely it is at least 10 hours more than that, you are spending about half of your time as a business owner marketing your business.  Not only is this eating up an enormous amount of your time and energy, it is most likely also causing undue stress due to the fact that their are so many ways to advertise your company (Facebook, Google Ads, blogging, etc).  Whether or not you are a company who does most of their marketing through LinkedIn or you prefer to use Instagram to send your message, all of these types of marketing require your time.

However, with a well-made sign, your business is being advertised for you without having to update a single status, post a new blog, or type of business hashtag.  Choosing a sign that reflects your business is an extremely effective way to get the word out about your business.adolescent-adult-beautiful-618544

Plus, over the past few years, the business industry has learned how important it is for a company to be referred through word of mouth marketing. Signage can help you out with that one too!  In fact, 75% of consumers have told of referring a sign to someone else based solely on a business’ sign (learn more). Through advertising that keeps on giving (our Landmark signs come with a 10 year warranty) and word of mouth marketing, a sign will free up loads of your time.

Why Do Signs Matter? Business Sign Statistics – Signs Are Your First Impression

Why Do Signs Matter_ Business Sign Statistics - Signs are Your First Impression

will-rogers-401259_1920Stage actor, vaudeville performer, and nationally syndicated newspaper columnist, Will Rogers, said it best when he stated, “You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.”  Based on his success, this is a mantra that he lived by because by the time the 1930’s rolled around, he had made 71 movies, wrote more than 4,000 newspaper columns, and was the highest paid Hollywood film star of his time (Source).  Adored by the public and sought after by directors, editors, and even the world-renown Ziegfeld Follies, Rogers knew how important it was to make a first impression that would turn into a lasting impression.

So what does all of this have to do with your business sign?  You already, no doubt, make a great impression upon your potential clients.  As soon as they enter your business, they tie-690084_1920are greeted by a warm, friendly receptionist who directs their attention to water or coffee available while they wait.  They happily sip their coffee while flipping through a Star magazine to catch up on who Taylor Swift is dating now in your lobby that feels more like a relaxing, welcoming spa than a cold, matter-of-fact business.  Soon, they are introduced to your best salesman, dressed for sales success in a tailored, navy blue Armani wool and single-breasted suit, and led back to a professional office with a mahogany desk and dark green leather chairs.  You have set up the perfect environment to give your potential customers the first impression that not only are they going to be taken care of, but that you are successful as what you do and your business is here to stay.

A business like that would have a harder time getting their customers to leave than getting them to stay.  However, for many possible customers this is not actually their first impression of you.  Their first impression of you is usually long before you have the chance to wow them with your personality and your professionalism.

Business Sign Statistic # 4: “When it comes to local business, a vast majority of what you’ll get comes from people who live within 5 miles of your store. That means the average person will see your sign about twice per day, or about sixty times per month” (Source).

What this tells us is that many of your potential customers are actually getting their first impression about your company from your sign. Furthermore, they see your sign again and again, which means that whatever first impression they get of your company will most likely be solidified again and again. A study done by Bertram Gawronski, social psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, found that the “results support the common observation that first impressions are notoriously persistent.”

Potential customers are actually getting their first impression about your company from your sign. Are you proud of the first impression that your company makes_

Think about your sign. In fact, you may even want to step outside for a minute and take a look at your sign.  Remember that much of your business comes from customers who see your sign first and that first impressions are notoriously hard to shake.  Consider what type of first impression is your sign making upon your potential customers. Are you proud of the first impression that your company makes?  Would you enter your own business based on your sign alone?  Does your sign tell of a business that is successful and longlasting?

If your answer to any of these questions is no, it is time to give Landmark Signs a call to make your best first impression. You will never be able to show your customers how valuable your services and products are if they do not even step foot in your door.

Which Sign Type Should I Choose? Window Graphics

Gold Leaf & Chipped Glue Window Display

First impressions can tell you a lot about a person.  For example, someone’s name can tell you about his or her parents in the name that they chose and possibly a person’s cultural background.  How they introduce themselves can give you more information too.  Is this individual confident?  Is he shy?  Is she outgoing?  Furthermore, how does this person dress?   Is he or she fashion conscious?  Or is that individual more business minded and professional?

As helpful as these first impressions are, they may or may not be accurate.  It is in the details, the information we learn as we get to know a person even better that confirms or disaffirms our initial impression.  Sometimes, we come to find that we were spot on.  This person is very much like who we originally assumed them to be.  But more often than not the details we learn about a person after that first impression,  surprise us or greatly expand upon that person we thought we had all figured out.

The same can be said of signage.  That Channel Letter Sign above your store, the Monument Sign by the street, or the Directional Signage around your property are usually the first impression a customer will have about your company.  It tells a client what your company name is and the design of that signage reflects your business’ priorities.  But where do the details come in?  These types of signs do not generally give you the chance to tell a potential customer about specific details.  That is where Window Graphics come in.  Let’s learn more about this sign type:

Large Advertising Space

Windows are usually a large surface ideal for advertising; display your company name, logo, store hours, motto, or more information with Window Graphics.

Variety of Materials

Window Graphics are available in a wide variety of materials and can be applied vinyl, hand-painted, a full-color print, gold leaf and even illuminated.

Affordable Signage

Depending on what materials you use, Window Graphics are not only a convenient place to advertise, but they can also be a relatively inexpensive way to get your message across.

It’s all about the details.  And windows are an ideal and convenient location to advertise your business and its details.

Window Graphics can be applied vinyl, hand-painted, a full-color print, gold leaf and even illuminated.  With a Landmark Signs Window Graphic, you can advertise conveniently and creatively for an affordable cost.  Confirm the already positive impression you have already left through your Monument Signs, Channel Letter Sign, or Directional Signs.

A Sign or a Work of Art?

From the Lobby SignOne of the most exciting aspects of signage, and one of the most interesting components of the job, is that what we are creating is multi-functional.  When I sit down and design a sign, at Landmark Signs, I get to think about the client.  Who they are, what their business represents, why they went into the business in the first place.  I strive to make sure that the signs I design reflect the owner and/or the company.

I also process through aesthetics.  Lighting, sizing, color, materials: all of these are factors that must be considered thoughtfully.  If the sign is a Channel Letter Sign going to go on a very tall building, what colors, materials and size will make sure that this sign is seen even from extreme heights?  For a Monument Sign, would subtle, classic halo-lighting work in this instance, or is making a splash more important and therefore lit-thru lighting would be best?  Then, I think through the manufacturing process, so that I am able to deliver the sign I designed.  And installation, the nuances that need to carefully planned so that this beautiful sign that has been designed, manufactured, and delivered can stay beautiful for a long time to come.

It is not a simple job, seeing a sign through from its conception to its creation, but it is one that I love doing.  Because, at the end of the day, my job is a creative job.  It is not just cut and dry.  I get to visualize a concept in my mind, transfer it to paper (or nowadays a computer screen), build it into life and see it hanging on the wall, an emblem for all to see. It’s art.  And like a sculptor or painter, I take great pleasure in the completing of these sign projects. Furthermore, I enjoy seeing others in the sign industry create their own works of art.

Like Airpark Signs in Phoenix, Arizona.  Their company created a unique and artistic sign that upon first viewing looks like a drawing instead of an actual sign.  But upon further examination, what you see is an extremely creative sign made of zinc came, a type of metal that is more commonly used for stained glass frames.  Take a look for yourself at this innovative Lobby Sign.

This sign was created with the client in mind, who “asked for a lobby-entry sign that looked more like a work of art than a sign.” (Sign Web).  We think that is exactly what the client received.  Because of sign is more than just a form of advertisement, it is a work of art.
